The sociocultural day "Afrique en ville" responds to the ambition to improve living together in the multicultural district of Prélaz-Valency in the city of Lausanne (Switzerland). The main objective is to make the African population of the Prélaz-Valency district visible to the other inhabitants of the district and to the inhabitants of the city of Lausanne as a whole. More broadly, it wants to highlight the many crossroads and exchanges that exist between Switzerland and Africa, in terms of cultural, demographic and human mixing, of Switzerland's development projects in Africa and of African contributions to the development of the Swiss.
This citizen project involves culture in all its forms: African music and dance, costumes and dress, culinary art, storytelling, theater, literature, cinema. To achieve this, it mobilizes numerous artistic, cultural, political, associative and academic players through activities such as shows, concerts, debates, exhibitions, processions and parades, meals and culinary discovery.
